As we round out a semester of Monet & Me Classes, we would like you to encourage your child to keep exploring their artistic expression. On a nice sunny day, set up a interesting composition in your backyard. Have your child pick out 5 items from the house; a toy, a kitchen utensil, an item from the yard, an item from the fridge, and his or her favorite clothing item. Group these items into a still life composition then encourage their drawing skills with a watercolor medium and watercolor paper. These framed make great gifts for grandparents, aunts and uncles!
We suggest making a corner of your home or playroom, “Kate’s Studio.” Have your child hang some of their favorite art to decorate his or her studio. Santa can foster creativity by gifting an assortment of oil pastels, colored pencils and large format drawing paper! Paint Brushes, small canvases and acrylic paint make cute stocking stuffers! Making these items easily available and perhaps setting aside an art exploration time once a week will enhance your child’s imagination and center their focus on all things art!
