Monet & Me Classes have begun with a bang! Pollock's Abstraction and Warhol's Pop Art have been the focus of the last two weeks.
Pollock was a great introduction to our series. His paintings were easily and beautifully mimicked. The kids got messy while action painting (splatter painting), with acrylic paints on canvas. The importance of line and motion was demonstrated through their expressionistic masterpieces! During Warhol Week the kids produced a series of self-portraits with oil pastels, watercolors, and colored pencils. The significance of color, and the idea of self-portraiture was incorporated as part of our lesson. Uncle Andy’s Cats, which was written by Warhol’s nephew, was perfect for story time! Stay tuned as we will continue to blog on how we are ducating the future with fine art skills.
