By Stephanie Sandoval, Monet & Me Teaching Artist
At a time when schools around the country are cutting back on art classes and limiting the time teachers are devoting to art in the classroom, the importance of the medium has often times been questioned by many. While some advocate for the more "academic" classes, such as math and science, to be heavily emphasized in the school curriculum, others argue that the arts provide the same sort of benefits for children. Here at Monet & Me, we firmly believe in the life-long skills and experiences that art provides youngsters. Check out these top 5 reasons as to why art classes are great for kids:
1. Motor Skill Development
2. Cultural Awareness
3. Language Development
5. Creative Problem Solving Skills
So let's do our part and encourage our kids to constantly explore their own creativity and inspire works of art that we can all be proud of!
